During its four years at Chart Hills, the Ladies English Open attracted the cream of European ladies golf, with players from as far a field as the USA, Japan and Australasia.
This year's event alone boasted six European order of merit winners - Laura Davies, Trish Johnson, Corinne Dibnah, Karen Lunn and Iben Tinning and former Solheim Cup captain Catrin Nilsmark - and former Major winner Karen Stupples. But it was Britain's rising star Becky Brewerton - a member of this year's Solheim Cup team - who recorded a popular maiden success.
Players from 23 countries made up the 2007 field making it a truly cosmopolitan event.
The Ladies English Open is one of the most popular events on the tour with the players, as England's rising star Dani Masters - who finished joint third in 2006 - explained.
"It's a great event. Everybody loves playing the English" she said.
"We turn up and think ‘wow, this is what being pro is all about'. You have the tented village, people milling around, asking for autographs, the magazine - it's a properly run tournament and the girls love it. You feel like a superstar."
